Fans of Naughty Dog’s popular franchise Uncharted are understandably eager for any information on the upcoming Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End. Slated to be the last Uncharted game produced by Naughty Dog, Uncharted 4 is due for release on the PlayStation 4 worldwide on May the 10th.
Naughty Dog Director of Communications Arne Meyer and members of the game design team James Cooper, Nicholas Lance and Zied Rieke took to Twitch to discuss the game with fans during a recent livestream event. Helpfully, Dualshockers took the trouble to note the main points made by the team.
Perhaps the most interesting revelation was Meyer’s announcement that the game has a “pretty significant length.” Meyer called Uncharted 4 a “pretty meaty game” and hinted that it has more playable content than the previous three Uncharted games.
Estimating the exact time Uncharted 4 will take to play through was difficult, the team indicated. This is because the game also seems set to give players more freedom than previous Uncharted titles. With dialogue options influencing the course of events, the opportunity to navigate areas on foot or by vehicle and more open levels that players can explore at their leisure, the pace at which the game is played will be more dependent on the individual player than previous iterations in the series.
The team’s comments on the size of the game echo a recent statement from Naughty Dog that some areas of Uncharted 4 have up to ten times the playable space of previous Uncharted games.
The team also discussed vehicle handling during the Twitch session and indicated that conversations will automatically stop and restart when players exit/re-enter the vehicle. The same system will apply when unexpected events that require a decision or response occur when the player is in the vehicle.
